In this guide, we will explain how to install a NATO watch strap onto your watch.
Step 1 – Installing the spring bars
Install a spring bar between the top and bottom lugs of your watch, which can be done with the help of a spring bar removal tool.
Step 2 – Inserting the NATO strap
Release the long half of the strap from the ring on the small half of the strap.
Weave the long half of the strap through the spring bars, starting from the top and front of the watch case.
Proceed to weave the long half of the strap back through the spring bar on the bottom of the watch case.
Step 3 – Completing the installation
Thread the long half of the strap through the ring at the end of the small half of the strap.
The installation is now complete and you are ready to attach the watch to your wrist!
Bonus – Excess strap
What do you do if there is excess strap? You can tuck it back under the closest ring or, you can simply cut off. In the case of a nylon strap, you can seal the cut with the tip of a flame.
