For a watch that blends vintage style with everyday wearability, the Oris Divers Sixty-Five is hard to beat. Originally inspired Oris’ own 1965 dive watch, this reissue nails the retro feel with modern specs. Essentially, it’s got all the charm of a vintage diver with the performance and reliability of a modern Oris automatic.
I wore this Oris Divers Sixty-Five 40mm (Ref. 01 733 7707 4355-07 8 20 17) for about two weeks, and honestly, it grew on me more every day. It was my first time wearing a bronze watch, and previously, I wasn’t sure if the bronze style would be for me. Upon the first wear however, I started to see how it gives the watch real character and makes it feel unique to wear. The original bracelet also stood out to me. It’s beautifully textured with a nice taper that really suits the vintage-inspired design.

I should also mention, the smooth sweep of the seconds hand immediately caught my eye and at times I found myself distracted by the buttery Swiss automatic movement — something many watch enthusiasts can relate to!
The deep blue dial is stunning in person, changing tones as the light hits it. It gives the watch a subtle warmth and sophistication that is hard to capture.
Comfort & Style
At 40mm, this Oris dive watch fit quite well on my 6-inch wrist. It didn’t feel too bulky thanks to the curvature of the case and its balanced proportions. The 40mm size is easily wearable for many wrists, though the Divers Sixty-Five also comes in 36mm, 38mm, and 42mm versions. If you’re considering one, it’s worth stopping by an Oris boutique to try a few sizes and see which feels best on your wrist.

As far as straps, I wore it mostly on a grey Classic Suede Strap (since it’s November and I’m definitely not swimming.) It gave the watch a more casual, everyday look which I enjoyed. The grey paired well with the bronze bezel and navy-blue dial for a fall look.
We also used this watch to feature our newest strap collection, our One-Piece FKM Straps. We loved this look and how it brought out the sportiness of the watch without being bulky.

How It Compares
I’ve been a fan of Oris for a long time, and I’ve had my Big Crown Pointer Date and Aquis 39mm for several years now. They are some of my favourite watches to wear, and I was super excited for this opportunity to try the Diver 65, a watch I have wanted to get my hands on for a while.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five sits in an interesting spot in the Oris watch lineup. It’s sportier than the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date, yet more understated than the Oris Aquis Date. If you’re after something rugged for real diving, the Aquis offers higher water resistance and a heftier build. But if you prefer a watch that transitions easily from jeans to business casual to a day by the pool, the Divers Sixty-Five is a fantastic choice.
It’s also slimmer than many modern divers, which makes it super wearable for smaller wrists. And if you a watch that’s unique and that patinas as you wear it, this Oris bronze watch brings a ton of personality and story-telling opportunity.
Final Thoughts
If you’ve been wondering “Are Oris watches good?”, the answer is a solid yes. Oris is one of the few independent Swiss brands still making high-quality mechanical watches at fair prices. The Oris Divers Sixty-Five has that timeless, vintage-inspired design that never gets old, paired with a solid automatic movement and materials that are built to last.
At around USD $3,000, the Oris Divers Sixty-Five price feels justified. You’re getting a piece of history with modern reliability. It’s one of the most charming Oris watches for men out there, and easily one of my favorite daily divers.
And whichever Oris watch you choose, you’re getting a stylish, well-built, and character-packed watch that’s just plain fun to wear.
