I wear any watch I own from 39mm to 60mm when the size suits the occasion . Large watches are great with flipped cuffs and jeans..not great with a suit and a buttoned cuff. They're great with a sweater or long sleeve T shirt...for sports wear.
I like them because they are a "one Glance" time teller. My smaller , vintage watches are a little tougher to read sometimes. Age is a factor. In my 30's I was great with any watch. All were smaller, 40 or less..Now , with ageing, it's a whole different thing. After cataract surgery I can tell you honestly, the large watches are easier. I need reading glasses or my regular bifocals with the smaller watches but if the contrast of the indices and hands are good on the small dial , and the lume is bright, life is easier. I defy anyone with aging eyes to read any watch, analog or digital when it's a 38 or 39mm..But then young people don't think about the future the same way older people do. I still say that a woman wearing a large watch is very cool no matter what age. The days of "Men's Size and Ladies Size" are antiquated. My mother in law has a Seiko with a dial the size of my thumbnail. I have no idea how she can see it at age 90. I think she wears it as a bracelet.

The Zenith Pilot watch - having the digit 6 look like the letter G - that is sacrilege to my eye candy and that also applies to the inverted "G" used for the digit 9 - totally ruined it for me. Sorry , no Zenith custom from myself , unless they use a different font.

To say the truth - I have one oversized watch - my Casio Edifice EQB500 which I bought for its technic ( solar quartz and atomic timekeeping via Bluetooth ) the rest of my watches are between 30 and 40mm and I prefer 34-38mm to wear.
BTW - I‘ve got an 8" wrist...

So it’s good to see that the days of these gaudy big plates are gone and watches come back to a more classic style and size...

In reply to <a href="https://strapsco.com/how-big-is-too-big/#comment-226728">dfreemont</a>.

I just can't do the over sized watch thing- not for me. I've always liked a moderately sized watch that's proportioned to my wrist size- 7.25 inches. So my sweet spot is 38-39 mm- but I'll go as high as 42-44 mm on a diver. That said- there are certain watches that due to their design wear small even though they're large- like the Seiko Samurai or the Turtle, both larger watches but they wear small.

The past 8 years all I wanted was 50mm plus but now I’m calming down and feel that 44mm -47mm is the best size for me. I also I have some 40mm-42mm that fit great as well.
